im really good at copying cartoons like tweety and taz and stuff like that, but i want to be good at drawing more realistic things. most of the people i draw look more 2-d than what i want it to look like. basically i want to be able to look at a picture of someone and be able to draw it. ive tried it so many times with pictures of myself and they never come out any good. also, my couzin gave me a book on how to draw people, but it hasnt helped too much. like its says that you have to look at the person and see the different parts of the body and brake it down from there. also, i have a problem with shading, i dont understand how to do it. my question is do you know of any good books that i can read and do you have any tips to help me make a better drawing of a person? thanxx in advance
Different books are pretty much going to be the same they tell you to brake it down into shapes then go from there so your going to have to be able to do that breaking down into shapes
No book can give you the knowledge of a lesson with an artist. My mom does watercolor and i have been participating in art programs since i could hold a pencil, and i can honestly say that no book can teach you how to draw a person, you need someone to show you how or just observe and do it over again and again and break it down by shapes…but its a lot easier to do this if you have someone along with you helping.
Drawing on the Right Side of your Brain, is an excellent resource and not like your regular “how to draw” books. Check out the link below and be sure to look at the gallery. It gives before and after pictures of those who learned to draw using this system.
Start with something less strenuous, such as anime drawing – which is considerably more dimensional than your average cartoons. When you get comfortable with this, move on to more realistic-looking art – such as deviant art. (www.deviantart.com)
If you’re able to draw very realistic-looking people (such as those featured in game covers, magazines, etc. then you should be ready to draw actual people.
Perhaps join a drawing class like me. Only if you’re ready to work at a certain required pace. Good luck.
i was once told that when you are doing a potrait it is the shading that makes the person look like they really do.
but all i have to say is practice, practice and practice.
also try doing a lot of sloppy sketches with shading.
dont try to make a masterpiece straight off.

Hope this helps.
well, first if you are good at drawing tweety and friends, keep doing those, those are just difficult to do, as for faces and such, start with basic shapes, apples. boxes, cups, and use shading and shadows more than lines, and use darker pencils 2b,4b, then once you have a good idea of where shadows and highlites go, then try more complex objects, have fun,?
